Crafty Cardmakers Challenge 71 - Make your own flowers

This time at Crafty Cardmakers the challenge is to make your own flowers.  These can be ribbon, paper, fabric, die cuts, tissue, embroidered, in fact anything you choose so long as it's hand made and not store purchased.

I started with a white card blank and added a layer of green card.  On top of this I added some textured purple card and some lovely K&Co Le Fleur paper.  Then I added a strip of the green card with a white border punched with a Stampin' Up Scallop Border punch.  All the flowers were made with the following punches: Paper Shaper Daisy; Woodware Blink Blink; Woodware Multi Sun Flower; Woodware Daisy; XCut Mini Holly; L-Em Rock Fern.  Finally I added a dot of Lavender Lace Liquid Pearls to the centre of the tiny white flowers.

Dream Valley Challenge 35 - Things with wings

This fortnight at Dream Valley we would like to see Things with Wings. 

I wanted to make a birthday card for a friend who has a budgie called Bobby.  I used a pattern by Judith Maslen.  The budgie was coloured with Derwent Studio Pencils and the background was made using a large straight grid.  I also used a Martha Stewart border punch and some peel-offs.

I know, mittens! In June! What was I thinking, I'm putting it down to too much sun. My daughter is always knocking up fingerless mittens so I thought I'd have a go - never again, LOL. All those double-ended pointy things.  I had needles everywhere and not enough hands to hold on to them.  And then when I was nearly at the end of a needle and the remaining stitches fell off  . . . well, it wasn't just the wool that was blue, LOL.    Still it was fun to try something different and I was very pleased at how they turned out.  And now I've recovered I may even make some more.  Maybe. 

 

Dream Valley Challenge 34 - For That Special Guy

The challenge at Dream Valley this week is to make a card for that special guy in your life.  We are sponsored this week by One Stop Card Crafts  who are offering a £10 voucher as a prize, and also Sassy Studio Designs who are offering one lucky person 4 of their fab digis.

The stamp I've used comes from Stampin' Up Provencal.  I've wanted this set for ages and was lucky enough to win it from ebay.  I've stamped the cockerel in Timber Brown StazOn and then coloured him using Derwent Drawing pencils.  The brown layer of card has been run through my Cuttlebug using the Diamonds in the Rough folder and the lovely brown tartan paper I found in my stash.  I added lots of layers and finished off the card using some extra large brads from Dovecraft.

Butterflies and flowers

This pattern was from Parchment Craft Magazine February 2012 and is by Christine Coleman.  I used Dorso (blue and green) on the reverse to add colour.  The gridwork was made using the large, straight grid and the little butterflies were made on spare paper and then stuck ontop.
