For our Christmas Challenge over at Crafty Cardmakers we'd like to take inspiration from the song lyrics of 'Time In A Bottle' written and performed by Jim Croce. You can find it on You Tube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dO1rMeYnOmM.
If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day
Till Eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day
Till Eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go
Through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go

We thought it would make a nice change from the usual Christmas challenge. Just have a look at the words and see what inspires you. It could be just one line. Or you could create something to show us what you
would do if you could save time in a bottle and
spend it doing your favourite thing, or with your best friend, lover, child
etc. A scrapbook page of memories perhaps, or something more practical
relating to time. You can choose one of the words
in the lyrics and create a theme around it.
We are also sponsored as usual by Milk Coffee Stamps with their usual prize of 5 digi images of the winner's choice

And as this challenge runs until 7th January we will be having a Top Ten instead of the usual Top Five.
Well, the song did mention a bottle, so how could I resist. I have made a label to go over a bottle of wine that I am giving a friend. I'm
not sure if we can trap time in the bottle but I know we shall have a good time
sharing it.
I started with some black card. I cut a large and a small hole in it using Nestabilities and scored fold lines so it would fit nicely over the bottle. Next I added a layer of brown card and finally the decorated cream card with my message on. I used stamps from PaperArtsy (Clocks 4 and Crowns & Castles 3) that I stamped in Stampin' Up Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand. The sentiment (from Crowns & Castles 3) is stamped in SU Early Expresso. I also sponged round the edges to give it a bit of a distressed look.

What a great label, the sentiment is lovely! The softer ink for those fab images gives such a lovely vintage look. Excellent idea!

A wonderful bottle label. love the sentiment.

This is fabulous - and such a great idea to 'decorate' a bottle. They're a pain to wrap and almost impossible to disguise and this is a wonderful solution!
